:)

As I sit here with a mind winding down for the day, I have to consider the goodness of God. Today was a good day. I got tons done. I spent hours working on purpose. The calls I made all went well. It just hit me in these moments, that Jesus did this. He made this possible. To live free. To be complete in each moment. To feel completely satified and needing for nothing. Wanting for nothing. Just satisfied. This is where God wants each and every one of us: satisfied in Him. But what about physical needs?

The Word declares in Galatians 5:16-18 that our flesh is at war with our spirit. Yes, there are times that you can't make decisions because you have to decide between doing what feels good and doing what IS good. The interesting thing is that what is good for you often doesn't feel good until you've conquered the temptation.

This word is important especially in the context of intimacy. So many crave intimacy. The need to be held, cherished, and satisfied is a very real need for each and every one of us. Regardless of how some have convinced themselves that they're okay and don't need love - God knows the truth. He made each of us and hard wired these needs into his creations for a purpose.

No, he doesn't want you to be single, lonely, and cold. This defense mechanism is in direct contrast to the soft, warm, and nurturing woman He made each of us to be. The reason He made every human being with these needs is for the furtherance of the his glory. We were made to seek fulfillment in the Lord. We are created for God's pleasure. Your gifts, your heart for others, and your loving nature are all a part of the purpose of your life.

Life can twist that need though. The hurt caused by others causes natural barriers. It pushes us to put up walls, metal fences, barricades, and indecipherable keypads over our emotions. The past hurt literally becomes a crutch that blocks out love and kicks healing to the side. But, God. He is faithful.

God says in His word to forgive, to release, to give Him the need for vengeance, and to trust that He makes all things new. This is why I am at peace. This is why I am satisfied beyond the desire for strong arms, warm hugs, and a steady heartbeat. The flesh is under submission, evaluated, tested, and corrected daily by the Spirit of the Lord that is within me.

There is a time and a season for every part of your life and the failure to progress through those seasons creates so much damage. It takes so long to heal because there are so many layers to pull back and cover with the blood. God starts off with one thing, then something else is revealed to you. Then He goes back through the years and gets to the core of the woman you are. The process can take months or it can take years. That is up to you and how quickly you turn to and remain in Him.

God will work as long as it takes and even to the day of Christ because of His love for you. He wants to mature you to a point where He is enough. Not the ex, not the part-time friend, not the group at work, not your best friend, and not your comfort. He needs to be enough. He is the source. It's in Him that you learn how to love and love unconditionally. Once you get there, just know that God will sustain. Let down the walls and get intimate with Go.
